Question

2 Restore questions

asked on November 5, 2014

First, let's say I take a page/full entry/folder from the recycle bin and "Restore entry to original location." Where will it go if the Original Path listed for the page/full entry/folder in the recycle bin is "\RECYCLE BIN"?

Second, does "Restore entry to original location" mean the directory where it was originally created in Laserfiche, or does it mean the directory from which the entry was deleted?

I believe that for the Original Path to be listed as \RECYCLE BIN, it means that it is a page and that the document it came from is also currently in the Recycle Bin, because the original path of those pages is wherever the source document currently is, which in this case is the Recycle Bin.

You're not going to be able to actually restore these pages unless you first restore the source document (in which case the path for the pages will change to wherever you restored it to).

For the first part I assume that you had a folder called Recycle Bin in your repository.  I do not believe there is a way to for a document to be restored to the actual Laserfiche recycle bin.

Restoring to the original location should restore the document to where it was deleted from.

Chris, at first I also thought our repository must have had a top level directory called "RECYCLE BIN", but after reviewing the contents of the actual recycle bin again, it appears that Kevin's reply is correct.

The only things listing Original Path as "\RECYCLE BIN" are pages, and they all appear to be from directories that are also currently in the recycle bin.

Thank you both!
