Merge Documents When Moving a Document to a Folder?

asked on November 3, 2014

Is it possible when moving a document to a folder to merge the document if another one with the same name exists? I didn't see it as an option in the activity.

You can use a "Find Entry" activity to check if a document with the same name exists at the destination. If it does, then just move the pages from the source document to the entry returned by "Find Entry." Then you can delete the source document after all pages have been moved. If "Find Entry" didn't find an existing document at the destination, then you can just move the source entry to the destination.

If you're only focused on the pages and there's no metadata involved and the entry ID of the source document doesn't need to stay the same, then you can use a "Create Entry" activity (while returning the existing entry if found) and then move pages to the output entry from that activity.

My workflow is VERY similar. But the only difference is I do not have the rights to do deletions. So I have to do extra steps to move the "Document(2)" file that has 0 pages in the document.

My problem I am having is when I create a document and there are zero documents already in the file, It follows the left branch and moves it to our trash folder.

Any suggestions on conditions I can use to narrow down the conditions so that my document wont get moved?

Your workflow looks VERY similar to mine. I would like help on how to narrow down my conditions as well! I'm having the same issue
