Question

Remote Scanning

asked on October 30, 2014

Is this a possible scenario?  Would it be possible to have multiple remote locations scan via MFP to an FTP site, then have Laserfiche Import Agent monitor the FTP and import directly into Laserfiche?  The Remote sites do not need access to Laserfiche, they just need to be able to scan their documents so they can be imported into Laserfiche.

Thanks!

Daryl,

Yes, entirely possible.  The MFP's need to have built-in FTP or webDAV capabilities otherwise you will need to set up some type of FTP service or webDAV share on the local network that will get the files to the site running Import Agent.

Once the files have reached the target site you can point Import Agent to that specific folder for import into LF.

The other thought is that the newest version of Import Agent can create SSL connections to a remote repository.  If you were properly licensed you could install a local copy of Import Agent at the remote sites to monitor the local folders that the MFP's are dropping scanned files into and the local Import Agent would do the actual import into the repository.
