Feature Request: Schedule Form Availability

asked on October 29, 2014

We have some forms that should only be available between specific dates. I know we can manually un-publish the form, but it would be nice if we could set an availability by selecting a date range. I could also see some organizations possibly wanting to set form availability daily, so they could say a form is available to fill out between these hours on these days.

@████████,

I wanted to see if this feature/function has been expanded upon or if there has been any additional use cases needed. I believe that our district and many other customers would benefit from this feature.

We have many public forms (upwards but not limited to 25 forms) that Parents of Students submit that are 24/7 currently. Every year during the summer months there is time frame (Student Roll-over or updating student data for the new year) where these forms are unavailable to be submitted but need to continue on any approval process prior to this time frame.

Currently we have each process that has a Generic Form with HTML that explains why they are unable to submit that we have to manually go into each year an switch to and from.

It would be great from a maintenance\admin effort if we were able to setup the deactivation form based on a schedule or date.

It would also be great if we were able to setup a page from within the Laserfiche Forms Configuration Page that allows for an administrator to redirect the entire Forms Home Page to show for Maintenance of the entire site.

Any details would be appreciated, Thanks!

The following is a user case of why this would be nice to have.

We have a 1-1 high school (meaning every student has a computer) that has a registration process on a first come first serve process. They often have so many students that want to register for this school that they have to keep track of who registered first and then have a waiting list. The other part of registration is that they need to make it fair for all students to register at the same time, so the form cannot be available before a specific day and time. It would be nice to be able to schedule the form to be published at 12:00 am on 05/23/2015 for instance so that at midnight on the selected day the form would be available without someone having to stay up until midnight to publish it.

I agree this would be useful. They usually want a specific use case, if you have one.

In the meantime you can probably use a scheduled workflow to change the flag on that Business Process, by updating the appropriate row/column in the table cf_business_processes (column is_activated). This is not supported, since new versions can change db schemas and it's never a perfect idea to mess with the Laserfiche databases directly.

Hi there,

When you says the form availability, are you referring to the Start Form? or the entire Process can only be up and running for a period of time?

It would be the start form. So the idea would be that if forms are already submitted someone on the backend could still be processing already submitted items, but no one could submit any new ones.

It might really useful though to be able to schedule maintenance windows that would restrict a entire processes from being used.

Would it be possible to use scripting in the form to disable all the fields and provide a message that the form is only available during certain time frames?

Microsoft Forms has a great implementation of this feature using a Start Date and time and End Date and time.
