Question

Laserfiche OCR

asked on October 28, 2014 Show version history

Is there a 64 bit version of the LFOmniOCR Engine? I have a 64 bit machine with over 256GB of ram and would like to use all that muscle to OCR tens of thousands of pages per day.

Or is it possible for it to use more than the 300mb or so it currently uses of ram?

Thanks

Tony

Laserfiche Distributed Computing Cluster was introduced with Laserfiche Rio and Avante 9.1; prior to that release there wasn't a similar solution available. Upgrading to Rio/Avante 9.1+ would allow you to best take advantage of the resources available to you via Laserfiche DCC, but a similar approach for distributing or redirecting the workload of OCR tasks isn't available for systems prior to Rio/Avante 9.1.

There is not. CPU and disk actually have more impact on OCR speed than memory. You can set up a Distributed Computing Cluster (DCC) to OCR in parallel on that server.

What is a possibility for someone on the classic license structure (Not Rio or Avante)? The machine is an eight core fast current generation server. I am also not seeing latency issues with any disk.

Thanks
