Question

Built In Functionality to record which metadata field changes are being made?

asked on October 27, 2014

Is it possible to be able to use any of the built in services without specialized modification to have a log of certain metadata fields being changed?

The idea is simple, We have a Quick Fields session which we are hoping to modify at various stages over the next few months to be more and more accurate. The Session will be used with Quick Fields Agent and so that will bring a scanned image to the point it has most of the metadata. We are hoping to make that part more and more accurate and remove the need for an extensive Quality Control check being done immediately following that Quick Fields Session.

Is there a way to track natively which fields are being changed by users during this QC check? I know I can do it with some trickery in Workflow, but is there an easier way to generate a report of this information so we know which fields need the most attention?

The Laserfiche Server doesn't seem to include the old field value when it records this audit event. For now, you may be able to report on all "write field value" events for a specific document and look up the history of a field that way, although we understand that it isn't ideal.

We'll see if this is something that can be added.

Yes, Write Field Value will give you the before and after values.

Audit Trail tracks these types of user activity.

But would Audit Trail be able to give me the before and after? or tell me the exact field? I did not think it would

I am looking at the report on my system and I only see the after change value, not the before value.
