Question

Annotations (redactions) not linked, i.e. redacting only text and not image

asked on October 24, 2014 Show version history

Within a Laserfiche 9.2 system, I have a document in a repository that has numerous redaction annotations, however none of the annotations are linked annotations, i.e. all of the redactions have been applied to the OCR’d text and none of the redactions have been applied to the image.

Laserfiche Web Help indicates that when annotations are created they are created by default as linked annotations.

Laserfiche Web Help (see link below) also indicates that it is possible to right-click an annotation and change the Link Annotation option to link and unlink annotations. However, when I right-click an annotation I do not see any Link Annotation option and I am logged into the repository as user admin will full feature rights and full privileges.

NB. The annotations within my document were created via the Auto-Annotations process within Quick Fields.

In short, I want all annotations within my repository to be created as linked annotations by default. How do I achieve this?

What were your settings in Quick Fields when the annotations were created? Was the document class set to send only the text pages back?

Hey John,

Annotations should be linked by default, so this is likely to be a configuration issue. As Miruna suggested, I would start with the Quick Fields session. What user is set for the connection profile of the document class? Is it different from the admin user you are using to log in to Laserfiche? On the auto-annotation process, what is the level of protection? If using different accounts, the annotation's security settings may explain why you cannot link annotations manually from within the document viewer. Lastly, does the Quick Fields user have the option 'Link New Annotations' set in the Laserfiche Client? You can check by opening the document viewer, and clicking the Annotations tab.
