Which Laserfiche component do you really wish you had?

posted on October 17, 2014

The only thing I wish I had which I do not right now is Import Agent and Forms. I have a little 'poor man's' import agent set up for the time being.

I ask because I am wondering if there could be another way to achieve what you want without that component that you are wishing for.....

Cheers!

I wish we had forms. I had to settle for creating a PDF form and having workflow recognize it and pull the info. It works, but it's certainly not the best tool, and I imagine the submission is improved with forms. We purchase this silly program - Mindjet. For the price of that (which I think 3 people in the office use, but we buy licenses for all) I think we could buy forms! I am trying to talk the powers that be into getting rid of this silly program so I can have forms. I am not sure what I'll do with forms - aside from send out silly surveys to staff to ask what they want to do for the Christmas party this year, but I'm sure I'll think of something, or get great ideas at the conference!

I am also looking into integration. We are about to re-do our entire website and data management system and want to try to integrate it with Laserfiche. If we do that, then there are plenty of forms on our website that we could use LF forms for.

Ha! I love it! I fully support the silly surveys (see: Secret Santa Gift Exchange automation), but I'm sure it wont' be hard to find other uses too! Some of the more popular processes I hear about include Accounts Payable, Personnel Action Forms, and Travel/Expense Reporting.

I love the Secret Santa process, that's just what I've been looking for, thank you! I am trying to create an audit process and have workflow pick out random files and assign them to managers. This workflow has some great ideas on how I might accomplish that.

If you need any help with the Secret Santa process, let me know...   :)

Rio.  Working on it...

Chris - do you have Workflow?  I recently found (though haven't tested yet) the action to pick up files from a folder using Workflow.  It might do the job of Import agent.

I do. I know what you are referring to. My friend Cory at City of Sunny Isles told me about that little trick. That's what I was referring to as the 'poor man's' Import Agent :)

Michael, what licensing suite are you running?

We're still on United for now.

E-Signatures.  We may eventually get there, maybe in five years, if all goes well with our LF implementation and business process building over the next few years.

Forms and E-Signatures - I'm anticipating purchase of these in 2015; keeping my fingers crossed.

As for Import Agent, we recently acquired Import Agent and are looking forward to replacing our current manually process which is a script thatmoves documents scanned into a network folder into Laserfiche.

Both Import Agent and Forms are good investments.  I believe E-Signatures will also be a great investment.
