Question

Entry Access Rights & Feature Rights

asked on October 16, 2014

Hello,

I cant seem to wrap my head around how or why both of these systems are in place. I guess the reason why is because when I set Feature Rights one way they do not propagate to Entry Access Rights... so I find myself having to set them both up with the same thing.

All my users are imported from the domain and are assigned to groups who have Feature Rights assigned to them. If I log in as one of them I am unable to do anything till the admin logs in and gives that user Entry Access Rights.

Can I not set Entry Access Rights if they do not have Feature rights?

Entry access rights are also known as Access Control Lists (aka ACLs) and they are security that is enforced by the LF server. Feature rights, on the other hand, are enforced on the client side. In order to delete an entry, the server requires you to have the Delete entry access right and the client requires you to have the delete feature right. So if you want a user to ever be able to delete entries, give them the delete feature right. Then use the delete entry access right to do the more fine-grained control.
