With the VAR kit; Quickfields comes with all the add-ons like Zone OCR, Real-time look up, etc. My question is what functionality is a customer getting with just the Basic Quickfield package; no add ons? How is this comparable to the regular LF scanning?

Basic Quickfield Features

I kind of view it as Laserfiche Scanning for Data Entry. It's optimized for quickly going through form to form to help with manual data entry. In the places we've used Basic Quick Fields we usually used it for Data validation using the zoom feature on the field entries.
Like Chris says, basic Quick Fields is optimal for data entry and manual processing. Laserfiche Scanning works best for ad-hoc scanning and does not allow you to save separate configurations for separate types of documents. Quick Fields sessions can have different sets of image enhancements and OCR settings. You can customize the template by hiding fields the operator does not need to fill in order to speed up data entry. You can add zoom fields so Quick Fields will automatically zoom in the image when the user clicks into the field. You can add custom field constraints in order to ensure data consistency.
Is Barcode add-on comes with Basic Quick fileds ?
Barcode is an add-on that is not included with Quick Fields Basic.
Does RIO-Quick Field Basic contain Barcode & Real Time Lookup ?
Rio Quick Fields Basic (QC4) comes with the Barcode and Validation package and the Real-Time Lookup and Validation package.
Thanks Steven for this answer.
In the attached Brochure, it shows only 4 types: Core, Classify, Context and Complete. the Basic is not mentioned at all, is it new type?
That's because it says "Quick Fields Bundles".
The Bundles are the key there. Basic is essentially the core of quick fields without any bundles (think of them as sets of tasks). On the chart in the PDF QF basic is just "quick fields Client" by itself.
I'm pretty sure Quickfields Basic only includes whole page OCR. But it still retains one key feature: The ability to use zoom fields when keying in metadata manually. The actual name of Quick Fields came from this feature - 20 years ago it wasn't possible to do the types of OCR text extraction that is available today, quick fields were a way to help user key in information very quickly by zooming into the areas that they needed to see to type the information as they tabbed between fields. (especially 20 years ago when 13' and 15' inch low resolution monitors were the norm!).
We've sold licenses for QF Basic in the past few years for data validators. I've built solutions extracting all of the data off of federal CMS-1500 (up to 400 data fields on one page!!!) but after they've been faxed/badly printed/etc they needed someone to verify the data was extracted accurately. Quick Fields Basic is perfect for this task because purchasing licenses for 5-10 copies is very reasonable. So we had one QF agent with all the bells and whistles doing all of the heavy lifting, and then the document is put into a queue for validators to use QF basic review by tabbing between the fields. when they do this it highlights and zooms to the appropriate place on the document so they can ensure validity of the extracted data and quickly fix it if it's not correct.
In the above solution it sped up their intake of these forms (versus manual data entry by very experienced and fast data entry specialists) by as much as 80%.
Hello, at RIO Price list, at (QC4) "Laserfiche Quick Fields Basic" product it says "Quick Fields and Validation packages for Bar Code and Real-Time Lookup".
Doesn´t this mean it includes this add-ons? (barcode and real time lookup)
Yes, it does. The marketing name for the package is somewhat unfortunate because it causes confusion between what people call "basic Quick Fields" (aka, just Quick Fields, no add-ons, listed as QC5) and the QC4 bundle, which is Quick Fields plus the Barcode and Lookup and the validation package.
