Question

Assign Password to PDF File on Export?

asked on October 15, 2014

In the Laserfiche client (9.2) when I try and export a tiff document, I get the option to export it as a PDF and then assign a password to it. If the file is already a PDF, that option is not available. Is this by design?

If you are exporting the electronic document portion, the client just exports the pdf that already exists. If you are exporting the pages as a pdf, then the client itself is creating the pdf so it has the opportunity to add a password to it.

Yes. If you are exporting images as a PDF, then you have the option of setting a password for the PDF file that gets created. If you are exporting an electronic document that's already a PDF, no additional processing is done and the file is exported as is.

One option you have is to generate pages for the PDF file and then use the option to export those generated images as a PDF. Note that you'd have to open the document in the Laserfiche Document Viewer and then select all pages (thumbnails) and then you'll have the option to export those images.
