Question

Automatic Check Out Has Been Lost

asked on October 15, 2014

Morning,

We are encountering a dialogue box when we try to modify meta-data on certain documents. The dialogue box states: "The automatic check out on this document has been lost, so changes made since opening it cannot be saved".

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Additional information:

- Version Control is enabled

- Client Version: 9.1.1.486

This error means that the document was checked out for editing and then unlocked without being checked back in. There is a bug fixed in the 10.0 server where renaming a folder would unlock child documents (SCR 126703), that could explain what you are seeing if WF or the user is moving/renaming folders. Also, the 10.0 client avoids this error message by detecting the situation and automatically checking the document back in.

Is the issue document specific or field specific?

Are you able to export the document as a briefcase?

Is the document itself checked out by someone else?

Was there any resolution to this? I have a client that is experiencing the same issue.

Version Control is enabled and they are on client version 9.2.

The issue arises when they are moving documents from folder to folder. Once they are in the folder they moved the doc to, the error message pops up.

Is it possible, if workflow has the document open that the message will pop up?
