Question

Quick Fields Keyboard Shortcut and Layout

asked on October 14, 2014

Is there any way to change the default "Enter" action from going to the next field, to going to the next document?  It doesn't appear to be an option through the Keyboard Shortcuts menu, but is there some other way?

Is there any way to view the document names and pages in a tree view like they used to be in Version 8?  Where it looks like this?

We have it where the pages are not thumbnails, but it's still in a different part of the Window than the document names.

Thank you!

You can't override the behavior of Enter, but Quick Fields has keyboard shortcuts for moving from document to document (Alt+Right Arrow/Alt+Left Arrow) or from page to page (Alt+Up Arrow/Alt+Down Arrow). Those keys are customizable.

You can dock the thumbnails pane under the document list, but there is no way to have the setup above. Can you explain what advantages your proposed layout would have over the current Quick Fields layout?

We have looked at the customize keyboard options, but when we assigned a new keyboard shortcut, that over rode the default selection criteria so it wasn't helpful because it actually slowed them down.

The layout that QF used to have was easier for document QC because they could just use the down arrow to quickly review the pages for each document in a batch before or while indexing.  Having them in separate parts of the window requires a 2 button keyboard shortcut to navigate through the pages, or having to double-click or hit enter to view each thumbnail in the viewer.  It was much faster when they were all together.
