How to make a Laserfiche Install on Windows 8.1 tablet Toshiba Encore2 ?

asked on October 10, 2014

Hello,

I try to install Laserfiche Server and Laserfiche Forms on a Toshiba Encore2 tablet. The server install is ok but I get troubles with SQL Server install especialy the management studio part.

I've read that with Windows8.1 it is recommended to use at least SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2, so I have download the update to upgrade to SP3 (the first that I've found). Upgrade seems to be ok but when I want to install the management studio, after extracting files and validate UAC, I get a "compatibility error for Microsoft SQL Server (2008 and 2008 R2) Microsoft" with 2 options : get help online or run the program without getting help.

If I select "Get help online", the browser open a tab on Microsoft support website but the "Known SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 setup issues" part doesn't talk about the issue that I get and if I choose "Run the program without getting help" a window open with that message "Please wait while SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup processes the current operation" and then open the SQL Server Installation Center.

I have the same issue when I try to run the "System Configuration Checker".

The tablet technical specifications are :

OS : Windows 8.1 Pro

System type : 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Processor : Intel Atom CPU Z3735G @ 1.33GHz

RAM : 1 GB

Regards.

You could just run a higher version of SQL Server Express, like 2012 or 2014.

What flavor of SQL Server are you installing (standard, express, enterprise, etc.)?

It sounds like you are asking for help specifically with upgrading SQL, which would be a question better suited to Microsoft's Forums.

I've download SP3 and the Management Studio for SQL Server 2008 R2 (the one that I had with Laserfiche9 install so I guess this is the SQL server 2008 R2).

I will try to install 2012 or 2014 like Mirouna said and let you know about it but what I wanted was to know if there are some specificity about Laserfiche installation on tablets ?

Regards.

There is nothing special for the installation as long as it is running a supported version of the Windows operating system.

If you installed SQL from the Laserfiche server installation package, it will be SQL Express 2008 R2.

Ok, after updating SQL server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012, the installation has run. Thank you.
