Question

Is decryption needed if we need to retrieve a file through SDK function?

SDK
asked on October 8, 2014

If an user retrieves the file via the SDK function, do we need to do a decryption, assuming the LF volume is encrypted? Or will the SDK function authenticate the user via a log-in session?

Thank you for your help.

If volumes are encrypted, the encryption/decryption is all handed by Windows and Laserfiche.  Using the LF SDK, all your activity is through the LF server and you do not directly access the files in the encrypted volume.  Your SDK application makes a request to the LF Server, and the LF Server verifies that the user has rights to make the request and if so, returns a LF object containing the requested data.
