Question

asked on October 7, 2014

Filter by Trustee -  you can by LF user , Domain User , Domain Group. Is there a reason why LF Group is not there?

The reason we left LF Group out as a filter option is because at the time that audit trail is running its report it may not have a source for group membership information.  For domain trustees, we ask the domain.  In the case of LF users, we are able to retrieve a list of the ones that appear in the audit database.  However, the audit database doesn't store LF group membership, and we don't necessarily have an LF repository to ask.

Hi Valerie,

Can you elaborate a little bit on your use case?  We've filed a software change request for this feature, but in order to prioritize its inclusion, the development team needs to know how this feature would be used, and why it's important.  Thanks!

Hi Brett,

I am the client of Valerie and administrator of LF in a municipality.  We currently have audit trail version 8.3.0.463.

My issue is that I want to create reports of the city's LF activities by department (LF group).

My user setups are set as such:

  • 50 name license users (domain)
  • about 150 lf users that are set as read-only.

I created LF groups that include these 2 types of users (domain+ LF user regrouped by "department"

Presently, I cannot create an accurate report because, I don't have the option of  selecting LF group.   Do I need to upgrade my Audit Trail module?

Maybe, as a workaround,  if I created "department reports" with a list of users for each department.  I would select "Filter trustees">login name>include trustee>add value.  But at that point, when I type a user's name, I cannot see his LF user profile, only the domain one.

The domain name that appears in the list is not linked to any LF products. except for the 50 named users that are.

Should I change my setting between named users and read-only users?

Should I use the domain groups that are currently created in the network for my read-only ones?  If so, can you send me the procedure on how to do the change?

thank you

Audrey
