Web Access prompt: "Value does not fall within the expected range"

asked on October 6, 2014

I have a user receiving this error when using Web Access. She is unable to view the contents of a folder she created. This only just started happening.

"The page at https://laserfiche... Value does not fall within the expected range."

The same folder CAN be accessed using the client by the same user.

Any ideas?

What version of Web Access are you using? If possible, upgrade to at least Web Access 9.1.1 SP1. From KB 1013480, one of the fixes is

The Folder Browser and Search Results pane no longer display a "Value does not fall within the expected range" error message when you have an invalid column display setting. (115096)

If that doesn't address the matter, then the issue will need to be investigated further. At that point, it would be best to open a support case with your Laserfiche reseller.

This issue is usually user specific.  Have the user logout of all LF applications then go to the Admin console and clear the attributes for the problem user.  Once that is done, login to Web Access again.

I am receiving the same error but from Directory Service while adding a new named device

Value does not fall within the expected range

Any advice?

You should post a separate question, since this about getting the error in the folder browser of the web client. Your situation is unlikely to be related.

This solution did not work for us, Raymond.  I have exactly the same problem with more than one user.  Everything works as it should if they log in with the desktop client.  But if they try with web access they get "Access Denied:  Value does not fall within the expected range".  it is a very serious problem for us.

Wow!  We actually are using Web access 9.1.1 but I read your response more closely.  it mentions "...... when you have an invalid column display .....".

So I looked at the column configuration of this folder hierarchy and found a "0" inserted among the other column headings listed.  When I removed the "0", access to these folders for this user happened immediately and automatically.

Who know why but that worked.  Thank you very much.
