Question

how to move between forms in the same process model?

asked on October 3, 2014

I am sure there is an answer to this some where that I can not find or have overlooked in my search.  But I have seen examples on the front end of people moving from one form to another form as part of the same process model in forms.  But I can not find out how they are doing that.  Can someone point me in a direction for me to learn this?

Thank you in advance.

Hey Kip,

I think I misunderstood you originally because this is definitely possible!  You would need to create multiple forms to accomplish this.  Follow this link to our help files to learn more!

You can have multiple forms as part of the same process.  The data that appears on each form and its general appearance is configured in the "Forms" section, seen in the blue menu bar near the top of the Forms page when you have selected a business process.

To configure the flow of the process, go to the "Process Modeler" section just next to the Forms button.  You can use a combination of tasks and gateways to determine which form gets routed to which person.

Let me know if you have any questions while building this process!  I've subscribed to this post, so I'll get emailed whenever you add a new message here!

Hey Kip,

What do you mean "moving from one form to another as part of the same process model"?  Do you mean when submitting forms, you'd like the ability to see one of a few different forms and have the ability to change between those?  Can you provide an example of how you plan to use this?  As I understand, this isn't currently available, but I have an idea for working around this to create similar functionality.

Sorry for the delay, I have been asked to create a work order system.  The first of 4 forms is the end user request which collects their Employee number or Student Number, their location, position, and all the assets assigned to them are loaded into various fields, they then select an asset, problem type and enter a description after which they can submit the form.  I need a second form to be accessible at the approval stage with all this data read only and a changeable status, action taken and route to fields for the site tech to use.  If the equipment needs to go to our repair team, a third form needs to be processed their with all the previous data as read only and similar fields added for status, labor, parts, time, comments, and inventory flags.  They would like all of this to happen inside a single forms workflow before the final submit of request completed at which it would be saved to the repository and a PDF filled and filed to an IT folder with short cuts in the employee/student file and the technicians involved  files.

Is this possible?
