Question

quick fileds import electronic documents with extensions

asked on October 3, 2014

Hi,

I have a session in QF to import all documents retaining the folder structure with Windows Creation & Modification date.

Everything is working fine, however

1. when the data is in QF there are no Extensions of any documents, I have enabled the setting in LF Client & when I import the document via client it retains the extension

2. I have installed the iFilters for MS Office, 2007, 2010 & 2013. But the text is not extracted for Office 2003 documents. When I manually run generate text, then everything works fine. Is there a way to do this during import?

Thanks in advance

I assume you mean there are no extensions in the document names for the documents created by Quick Fields rather than that Quick Fields does not set the file type? Quick Fields 9 provides a token for the extension, so if you do want to keep the extension in the name you can set the document name to %(name).%(extension).

The IFilters for different versions of Office are separate, so the ones for the higher versions might not be able to handle Office 2003. They're not something Laserfiche can control.

Thanks, I realised that.

Does anyone have link to iFilters for Office 2003?
