Question

54.20 MB storage in colour, compared to 1.41 MB storage in black and white

asked on October 3, 2014

When all (scanner settings set to auto detect colour) is set to process in colour into Laserfiche using Quick Fields, the result in storage is 54 MB. When black and white is set, the result is just 1 MB. This is just one document, when you multiply that with 8.000.000 documents, estimated growth in time, the hard disk storage will be impacted with colour. The user need is to process it in colour into Laserfiche. Is there some sollution to meet the user requirement and not to impact the hard disk storage?

Some increase in size is expected for color documents. Quick Fields defaults to saving color images as TIFF LZW which is the better format for best quality, but does have a higher file size. If you would prefer a smaller file, you can set Quick Fields to use JPEG compression for color images instead (Tools\Options\General: "Use JPEG compression")

We lowered the dpi and got the size decreased, Martin, thanks for the suggestion.
