Question

unhandled exception error when exiting quick fields

asked on September 30, 2014

Whenever this user exits Quick fields, she gets this: "unhandled exception has occurred in you application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately."

If the user clicks on Quit 3 times, then it will exit. But, any changes she has made to her session is lost, and when she goes back into Quickfields it asks if she wants to recover her session.

We have one user at a client site now receiving this exact same error, along with an access denied message to an xml file in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\SessionVariables when closing Quick Fields 9.0.1.496. They say this user was not previously getting this error and no changes have been made to Windows security settings or access rights. Was there ever a resolution for this?

Thanks!

Hi Guys.

I have this issue too with a customer and would like to know the resolution if Laserfiche tech support could update this to actually give a Laserfiche Answers Answer :)

We have this exact issue. Is there a resolution for it? There are 4 users that share two machines that were both updated at the same time to 9. One has the issue and the other doesnt. Making the users a local admin fixes but we cant do that. Why would they need different permissions for doing the same thing??

Nobody opened support cases for it, so it was not investigated. We could not reproduce it internally.

Hi Ben,

I think we fixed this issue by giving the user rights to the C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\SessionVariables folder as making them a local admin was not an option. I believe this was all that was required.

Thanks

Tina

Hi Tina, that worked for us as well. The client just wanted to know why the users didnt need rights to that folder at the other quickfields station. They do not want to spend time diagnosing now that it works so we will have to do a case with Laserfiche next time. I will try to remember to post here if we find a resolution. thanks,
