Error Generating Pages

asked on September 24, 2014

One of the users in our office is getting an error message that says "There was an error printing the document" when generating pages in their Laserfiche Client.

Other users in the same office have no problem running the Generate Pages function on the same documents and are able to do it successfully.

IT support even tried upgrading them to LF 9 (currently on 8.3) and the same error persisted. All settings and configurations seem to be the same as all other users in our network.

Any ideas?

So these are documents already in the repository that users are trying to generate pages for? And some users can generate pages just fine while one other user gets an error message when trying to generate pages for the same document?

What type of document are they generating pages for? Is it any type of electronic document or a specific kind, i.e. only PDFs.

If this is with PDFs, have the affected user go into the Client's Tools > Options > Generate Pages > General menu and try using the option "Extract images from PDFs" instead of "Use Snapshot virtual printer"

If this is with other types of electronic documents such as Word documents, then can you confirm if Snapshot works fine outside of the Client? Open Microsoft Word, create a test document, and then try printing it to the Snapshot printer and see if that's successful.

We received an error as well on some machines.  I found that word files not being associated with the Microsoft Word program was the issue.  The weird thing was that double clicking the file opened it in Microsoft Word but Snapshot could not open Microsoft Word.  Right clicking on the word file and choosing properties and then associating the file name with Microsoft Word fixed this problem for us.
