Are there any K-12 districts that are using PowerSchool and have integrated it with Laserfiche? If so, would you mind sharing what you have done with the integration to give others ideas?
Blake, I now have a form in Laserfiche that the parents can fill out and send in. Once sent in the School Secretary fills out about 5 fields in PowerSchool and assigns a Student Number. That number is then transferred to the approval form and is then processed.
It then is sent to a WorkFlow Business Process that updates PowerSchool and fills out out all the Demographics, Parents, Emergency Numbers, and all Addresses along with Parent names and phone numbers.
Would any school districts that are using PowerSchool be interested in custom workflow activities that help integrate directly with PowerSchools API?
Power School is great in that it is very easy to understand their database structure. Besides the obvious real time lookup functionality(Type in StudentID, get FirstName, LastName, DOB back for fast indexing), it is also very easy to determine site and when students transfer schools.
For instance, Special Ed files can follow sites and automatically move to whichever site should have access so only appropriate people have access to files. Basically, any information in Powerschool can be tied to Laserfiche with workflow easily.
