Question

Blank reference to a page

asked on September 23, 2014

I have a document that I am trying to export. It fails because I have a blank reference to page 37 all the other pages are referenced correctly in Page Info. I would like to just delete the reference. I have tried Reindexing, Copying the document and selecting thumbnails skipping the none referenced page and copy - each time I try this Laserfiche terminates the client connection.

Any suggestions?

Is this an electronic document? Are you maybe able to regenerate pages?

are you able to email it to yourself? or put it in a briefcase?

Have you tried having a workflow pick up the document, make a new entry, and copy page by page the original to the new entry and see if that works?

We have this happen fairly often as we receive many files from outside sources. The easiest way to deal with it is generally just snapshot itself back into a new document, and then delete the old one.

would a business process to copy everything over like with what i suggested for a workflow be something that works in these situations? Maybe you might want to have that so you can use the originals instead of snapshotting.

Un fortunately this client does not have workflow installed.

Kenneth,

Workflow just makes a copy the same way the client would, replicating the bad pages. I guess we could probably come up with a custom script that evaluates each page as it usually has something to do with the dimensions of the page itself in the LF database(or attempt the entry itself inside the DB), however snapshot has been working well enough for us.

So even if you tell it to go page by page it makes the bad reference? Interesting.

Might wanna discuss with Laserfiche why this happens in the first place, it may be that something can be fixed on the database side of things to remove that bad reference of fix it.
