Question

Download PDF combined with search URL

asked on September 18, 2014

Been playing a bit with a scenario involving auto downloading PDF's out of weblink.  We know that is an option via URL syntax of openpdf="true".  This works well but only seems to work when calling a document via the document ID.

We have a situation where a client cannot use a current integration (Toolkit) for image retrieval because of multiplexing.  They are forced to use the Public Portal now.   So the integration needs to change in that we are calling the document via a search URL.  We have no problem with that,  searchcommand=advanced search syntax at the end of the URL with the appropriate parameters.

However we cannot seem to do both a search and then a download PDF (once it finds it).  The parameters we are passing guarantee that there will only be one document.  The other software actually takes the PDF, parses out only the pages the user requested, and then stitches it back together.

Has anyone done something similar or know of a good solution?  Basically we need the link to be a URL search of Weblink, retrieving one document, and automatically downloading it somewhere that then the other software can pick it up.

Or....maybe I just have the syntax wrong but I cannot seem to get it to download the PDF of the returned search.

Thanks.
