Question

Automatic Windows Authentication with Forms

asked on September 17, 2014

Greetings All,

Does anyone know if automatic windows authentication will be added to the upcoming Forms 9.2 release?

I ask because the client I am working with uses Forms with Citrix, and with Citrix if a user logs out and logs back then they are required to re-authenticate in Forms  as well, even if you select the "Remember Me" option.  This is not the case on a standard workstation.  They also use the save unfinished form feature which requires an e-mail address and password for recovery of the form at a later time. So in their situation, they are constantly required to authenticate twice.  If there is a way to alleviate this redundancy that would be great, and I believe automatic Windows authentication would definitely do that.

If anyone knows of possible solutions to help with redundancy, please do tell.  I am all ears.

Thanks in advance,

Bich

Hi Bich,

Laserfiche Forms 9.2 will not include Windows Authentication. In the future Laserfiche Directory Service (launching with Laserfiche 9.2) will offer a single-sign-on experience with Laserfiche's web-based products, including Laserfiche Forms, but this is not on the docket for the upcoming 9.2 release.

Good morning Kelsey,

You mentioned that the Laserfiche Directory Service will offer single-sign-on experience with Forms.  Is there an ETA on when this will be included?  We have a client that's asking for this.  Thanks!

Hi Shelby,

This is planned for the Laserfiche 10 release.

Laserfiche 10 is currently in development, but I can't provide a precise release date. Refer to the Laserfiche Product Roadmap for our most up-to-date timelines, and when we have a better estimate for 10 you'll see it listed there.

Now that version 10 is here, there still appears to not be a Windows Authentication passthrough, much less a checkbox. Is this still on the roadmap?

I do not see it mentioned specifically in the Roadmap for Forms, but for LF Mobile it is included, so I would assume they need to do similar things for both to work, so it's very likely to be in Forms 9.2 (guessing though)

"Remember me" relies on browser cookies. As far as I know, logging out of Citrix does not save any local user data.
