Question

Laserfiche and NetApp Compliance Mode

asked on September 16, 2014 Show version history

NetApp, as well as a few of storage vendors, have a feature on their storage devices called "compliance mode." It reads the read-only flag on a document at a file-system level and automatically stores that content to a special storage area, often where Write-Once Read-Many is enabled.

My question is, is it possible to have Laserfiche mark files in a certain volumes as read-only, such that we can trigger the SnapLock functionality to appropriately migrate the content?

We could  generate separate volumes in Laserfiche that point to different storage media, but I am curious if there is any way to modify the file system level metadata, e.g. read-only, creation date, modification date, through Laserfiche as a way of communicating with the storage device without using an API.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Please review this help page. If you make the volume permanent, then it will set the read-only flag for those physical volume files.
