Question

Sharing common connection profiles

asked on September 16, 2014 Show version history

I've noticed, whenever we create a new form, that we have to create a connection profile, each time, from scratch.  As a possible future enhancement request, would it be possible to have connection profiles shared between forms, so instead of having to create a new one each time, we could have a drop-down of existing connection profiles we could select from (i.e. after creating it once, we could just select and use it point forward)?

Please let me know if this might be in the works - thanks!

So from what I can tell, the connection profiles are really just a way of storing information for that particular forms process. The reason they may not have done it where it is shared among multiple forms, is that forms is meant to be more of a lower level option to doing business processes.

Some users may not need to know the information or should not be able to use profile connections where they should not be used. I think it might be a good idea to implement connection profiles similar to data sources, where you need to check off which ones can use which connection profile, and then limit who has that capability of modifying each connection profile

Exactly - if it was possible to share Connection Profiles between forms, lock it down by user/group permissions.  Sounds like a good idea to me! smiley
