Formatting Dates. When to use regular expressins or token formatting?

asked on September 15, 2014

Have asked this before.  Going to again. I'm trying to convert a date, May 23, 2014 (thru zone ocr) to fill out my date, to then name my document.  The field is set up to take MM/dd/yyyy.  Except when it goes to LF repository, the date in Laserfiche looks like this m /dd/yyyy or 5 /23/2014.  When I applied a formatting to convert May 23, 2014 to 05/23/2014, it works in the test process.  But when I actually apply as I run a document, today's (current) date shows in field.  Suggestions?

Token formatting or regular expression?

Are you using Quickfields 9? If so definitely use the "Apply Formatting" section of the Token dialog to get these results. After you do your formatting, in your name field it should look something like %(Zone 1#"MM//dd//yyyy"#) where you will want the full MM/dd/yyyy name to go.

Hello Susan,

I just tested this out!  From the Admin Console, open the properties of the field in question and modify the field format so that its custom "MM\dd\yyyy".  Additionally, in Quick Fields, where you're setting the metadata, you'll want to right click the token to open the token editor and apply formatting "MM\dd\yyyy".

Using the methods above, I was successfully able to store the document with the field value being set to "0523/2014".  This worked when testing the token as well as when I saved to the repository.  If you are finding that it's still not storing the full date, please let me know and I'll take another look!
