Question

Schedule OCR to Run at a Later Time?

asked on September 10, 2014

We are scanning "old" documents directly into Laserfishe solely for storage only--not even using a template.  I have a scanner operator scanning directly into LF.  I was having her scan with the OCR process in place, but as all aware, boy does this slow it down.  So, I figure I will go back and OCR these later.  Don't I run these back thru QF applying the OCR process and schedule a time under Options>Send Documents>When Schedule>Time/Days?  Should I limit a number of pages to go thru at a time?

Thanks

Is there a reason that Quick Fields isn't being used to do the initial scan?

If that isn't possible and you can only re-process the documents that you had scanned in, then using Workflow with DCC is an option. However, if you don't have DCC, then you can use Quick Fields to re-process and then OCR and store the images back into the repository at a later time, during off peak hours.

Another option would be to use DCC.

Hi Susan,

If you are using Quick Fields to handle the initial scanning of the documents to then be stored into the repository, then you can configure the session to store the documents at a specified time, i.e. during off-peak hours, and then perform the OCR process while it's storing.

Review this help page for additional details.

They are initially being scanned into LF.  I want to run them back through (snapshot) Quick Fields to run processes.  Will this work?

The scanner operator does not have QF on computer--no license--that's why she is scanning directly into Laserfiche.  So, I can reprocess them through Quick Fields?

Yes, you can.

Please see the attached. I set my pages to be sent to the repository this past Friday for 5:00 p.m.  When I came in today, my document was still sitting in Quick Fields.  It doesn't show here because I went ahead and stored it and I am presently performing OCR in LF.  Why didn't it store as I scheduled?  What should I check?  Any input on this would be much appreciated.
