Feature Request: do not auto-save form edits (or have "Undo" button)

posted on September 10, 2014 Show version history

I was just putting the final touches on content in a large, Custom HTML field.  I accidentally pasted a URL in the body of the editor instead of in the the Add Link box.  I used the normally handy CTRL+Z to undo it and it WIPED my content.  Gone.  I tried CTRL+V in case I accidentally (wishfully) hit CTRL+X, but alas, it was just my URL.

I'm not sure the best solution - the autosave is nice and I haven't had issue with it until now.  But it makes these kind of mistakes undo-able.  If there's an "undo" button (at least in the Custom HTML fields editor) that might suffice.  Or, have a Save button in the Custom Field part?

And if anyone knows how I can get my content back - I'm all ears!  I'll begin typing again...

I'm sorry to hear you lost your content; that's always incredibly frustrating. The behavior you're describing might be a bug. I will check with the team and let you know.

If you lose content with undo (CTRL + Z), try using redo (CTRL + Y) to get it back.

Thanks!  Good to know about CTRL+Y

FYI - It's hard to recreate. I was able to recreate it by pasting something into the Custom HTML field and then Hit CTRL+Z twice; but now I'm trying to recreate it again in a new Custom HTML field and it's not doing it.  Hopefully a one-time bug/issue that I can avoid in the future.  Thanks!
