Question

Can I set a new physical disk for a logical volume to roll over to without disabling the volume / stopping the service?

asked on September 2, 2014

I tried changing the path of the logical volume but got the error 'volume in use'. As I'm hoping the change will only affect the next rollover volume, not the current volume version (with the old fixed path), I was hoping this could be done 'on the fly' without stopping the service / disabling the volume. Is there a way of doing it without locking people out?

Hi John,

You are correct, changing the path to a logical volume only affects future physical volumes. It does not move existing volumes. You should be able to change the path without disabling the volume, though if someone is currently using or writing to the volume, you would get that 'volume in use' error. Try restarting the Laserfiche Server service, and you should be able to change the logical volume's path without problem.
