Having an issue loading OCR Engine after applying Service pack 1

asked on August 28, 2014

I upgraded a client of ours just now and the server upgraded fine to 9.1.1.548 including the OCR, however when I upgraded a client workstation that had OCR installed, the service pack broke the OCR engine. I tested this theory by trying it again on another workstation. Before applying the service pack, if you go to tools, options, Generate Text, the language shows english and you can OCR a document. After applying the SP1, when you click on the tools menu you immediately get an error saying failed to load OCR engine, and if you look at tools, options, Generate Text, the language is blank.

So far the only way to avoid this is to not install the SP1 on the clients. Has anyone else found a fix for this? I don't see anything documented about this on the support site or Answers.

Thanks!

Customer said that it worked, but only after running the separate Omni page software installation after the Client install.

We are also having the same issue on some computers after installing the 9.1.1.548 SP1 update. I uninstalled the 9.1 Client Suite and installed the 9.1.1.548 with SP1 Client Suite and this has taken care of the OCR Engine error. Thanks Alexander.

Is there an issue if you uninstall the 9.1 Client Suite and then download the 9.1.1 with SP1 installation package from the support site and install that?

We have not tried that yet, as the customer has rather slow d/l speed in a remote area. I assumed the SP on top of the 9.1.1 previous install is the same thing.  I will try that and update here with the results. Thanks
