Question

Creating a document from the information filled in a form

asked on August 27, 2014

I have this use case where a document (about 12 - 15 pages long) has to be created, which uses the field values from the starting form. How do I go about with this?

Thanks!

I don't think that it can create a Word document, but you could have it fill out a fillable PDF form using the values that were entered in the LF Form. So instead of saving the actual LF Form to the repository you can just pass the values to Workflow and then use those values with the Fill Out PDF Form activity.

What sort of document is it supposed to be? Forms can save a copy of the form to Laserfiche. Would that be acceptable?

So what you're saying is the second document be created as a form and saved to the repository?

Did I get you right?

Yes, see the help file for more information on how to configure a form to save a copy to a Laserfiche repository.

Yes I am aware of that but it needs to go into the repository without any action being taken. Firstly, Is that possible?

Also, instead of saving,I would have preferred emailing the document as an attachment. Is that option available?

Thanks!

The document to be created is essentially a contract which needs to be sent out to all the parties and the contract is created using all the field values from the starting form.

I hope this makes your understanding of my use-case better.

Yes, it can be saved to the repository without any action being taken within Forms. Just have the first step after the submission be a Save to Repository step.

If you would rather have it email a copy, you can do that with the help of Workflow. So have it save to the repository and then have a workflow pick it up and email the document as an attachment in an email activity.

Thanks Blake .. That definitely is an option.

But the document (contract) is like 15 pages long with much text. Is it possible to just pick up the field values from the starting form and populate a word document?

So your saying the second document can be created as a form and just be saved to the repository?
