Feature Request: If Status is Failed, Allow to Manually Select a Step to Retry

asked on August 27, 2014

Currently in Forms 9.1, if an instance fails it ends the entire process for that instance. It would be very beneficial if not only could you have it retry, but also allow an administrator to select what step to go back to. The reason for this would be maybe the step it failed at was not because of something selected at the previous step, but 3 steps before the current failed step. It would need to go back to 3 steps in order for the correction to take place.

I second this. Forms needs to be a bit more lenient on failure. This is meant to be a product anyone can use, so mistakes should be 100% expected more often than not, especially with the first iterations of a form. I know that I am considered quite savvy with Forms by my coworkers and I still test processes repeatedly to try and find failures because even when you know what you're doing it can happen.

EDIT: While I never see a future where I would not test new configurations, I would not have to devote as much time to it if I know that I were able to make on the fly corrections if a minor detail causes a break in the process.

Maybe this feature can come in the flavor of an activity like the "Try-catch" in workflow is, where we can easily configure rules for what to happen if a failure occurs. Any options would be better than no options that we have now, or the options we have now make everything on the screen extremely messy

Has anyone figured out how to edit the database to make this instance Active again?  We have several failures of a particular form that I'd hate to recreate, but I certainly don't want to mess up the database.

Thanks
