Login to Laserfiche client gets 9013 Permission Denied after migrating server to Rio licensing and moving user licenses to license manager

asked on August 21, 2014

So the customer has been using Rio on a single server with all licenses assigned to Repository Users. I've now reissued the license with only 2 repository users, removed the repository users, added them to Windows Accounts node in Admin console and set them to Trusted. Then I added all the Windows accounts to Named users in License Manager.

When logging into Laserfiche from one of those "migrated" users I get 9013 Permission Denied when trying to login. The remaining 2 repository users are fine.

Here's what I've verified:

-The windows accounts are correct in Windows Accounts node in Admin console (I search for them and add them fine)

-The windows accounts are correct in Named Users node in License Manager. (I search for them and add them fine)

-I've verified that the Windows Account I'm testing is Trusted in Admin Console Windows Accounts node.

-That user also has all rights and privileges until this works.

-The Windows user has been assigned all Access Rights at the root of the repository.

-The License Manager is on the same computer as the Rio server.

-The new Rio license is good after I restarted the Server service. (I can see the license listed normally in the server name node in Admin Console) It shows 2 Full Users in Admin console.

What am I missing to get this "Rio method" of user licenses working?

What happened is sometime after the user switch there was somehow an IT person that ended up changing the password on the account I was trying to use. I was still connected to the server with the previous credentials. Once we found this out and logged back in with new credentials it all worked. Thanks for all the ideas.

Did you remove them as a named user in the Laserfiche repository?

It's slightly different - no licenses are assigned at the repository level, so if it finds none at the level it then goes to the license manager server.

Here's the hierarchy as I've understood in Rio:

1: Look for a lf server level local named named license

2: Look for a lf server level windows account named license

3: Look for a rio license manager named license (windows account)
4: Look to see if you are system manager (admin) on LF server level (and use one of the 2 free admin connections)

5: Look to see if you have a read only license granted through weblink

yes I did remove the repository users as per my description above.

"I've now reissued the license with only 2 repository users, removed the repository users, added them to Windows Accounts node in Admin console and set them to Trusted."

I understand that we still define the windows users in Admin console under Windows accounts and set them to Trusted so they're allowed to login, but the actual license comes from Licence Manager. Correct?

Correct. Sorry I missed that --- it's what I usually miss when I'm moving accounts :)

It's possible that the updated named user assignments aren't making it to the Lf Server for some reason. With the named users defined in the License Manager, try creating a new license file for your Server instance and replace the Lf Server with that. If that fixes the issue, you'll wan to open a support case to determine why that didn't work automatically for future changes.

Added: Specifically, are the individual windows account users actually listed in the new license file?
