Question

Workflow 32-bit or 64-bit

asked on August 20, 2014

How do I see how many bits a customer's workflow Install is? I checked under Programs and Features and Help About in the Administration Console. Neither shows the bit count.

The install folder is customizable, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything. The easiest way is to look for the Laserfiche.Workflow.Service.exe in Task Manager. If it's got " *32" after the name, then it's 32-bit. If it doesn't, then it's 64-bit.

Right-click on the workflow designer icon on the desktop, hit Properties. See where it's installed to. If the machine is 64 bit, then it will be installed to Program Files (x86) instead of Program Files.. x86 indicates 32-bit

Is it possible to disable 32-bit and enable 64-bit mode?

Only with un-install and re-install.

Do I need to republish all workflows or it is just about workflow components to be uninstall and reinstall?

Hi Ashish,

Workflows will remain the same. Just need to re-install.

Cheers!

Will 32-bit or 64-bit affects to performance of machine or it is just a designer specific?

Obviously you will need a 64 bit OS in order to install 64 bit workflow. The age old question of performance between 32 and 64 bit rages on, but obviously the 32 bit RAM limitation has the most impact. In a nut shell, if you have more than 4GB RAM (max for 32 bit) then 64 bit will of course run faster.

So it means if I install 64-bit workflow on 64-bit OS and if I have 16 GB RAM then I can take certain benefit in execution of whole workflow process starts from subscriber to MSMQ and triggering of workflow.
