Laserfiche Forms stores date_created as UTC Time in cf_submissions table

asked on August 18, 2014 Show version history

Is it possible to update/change how a submission "date_created" time is stored to the Laserfiche Forms database? Currently, the submission is stored in UTC Time which is causing issues with a custom prize drawing query we have set up in Laserfiche Workfllow based on the date and time. I currently have the time adjusted by 5 hours within the Forms choices for time. However, this still does not fix the problem for the time after 7PM CST, as the date does not change to the next day.

Why not use a Date Token Calculator in Workflow to add 5 hours?

I have tried the Date Token Calculator in Workflow, but the date does not calculate correctly. You can see how I have the activity set up. I have the time period selected in this example from 2PM - 10PM. However, when I add 5 hours on in the date calculator, the date calculator defaults the ending time to 7PM rather than 3AM the next day.

Looking at your screenshot, both of your token calculators refer to %(RetrieveFormData_Starting Time), instead of the second one referring to %(RetrieveFormData_Ending Time).

That is my mistake! I overlooked the ending time in the calculator. I adjusted the calculator to point at the right token and the results are correct from the calculator. Thanks for catching my error!

As for Laserfiche Forms storing the date_created value from forms as UTC time, is this something that Forms is built to do intentionally?

Storing dates in UTC is pretty standard across Laserfiche products.  It is the easiest way to handle a client being in a different time zone from the server.
