Question

Enable TLS instead of SSL

asked on August 12, 2014

Dears,

If we configured Laserfiche server and Web Access to use SSL, How we change it to be TLS instead?

Does it need more configuration?

Thanks in advance.

TLS will automatically be supported. Clients connecting to LFS, such as Web Access, will negotiate which protocol to use during connection establishment. Normally the highest version of TLS/SSL that both the client and server support will be chosen. If you want to ensure that TLS is always used then you can disable support for SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 on the machine that hosts either the server or client, or both if you like. Please note disabling support for SSL 2.0 and 3.0 will affect all programs on that computer that use Microsoft's implementation of SSL/TLS (known as SChannel). In particular, all Microsoft products, including IIS, will be affected.

Please see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/187498 for information on how to disable support for SSL 2.0 and 3.0.

Dears,

If we published the web access to be accessed from outside, what are the steps that we should follow to enable TLS instead of SSL?

Thank you,

It's the same method as the original answer, but of course you make the changes on the Web Access server.
