Question

WEBDAV for multiple repository

asked on August 12, 2014

Hi All

Currently we are using WebDAV with default repository.

I wanted to make it work for multiple repositories, can you suggest a way to enable this feature in 8.3 Rio system?

Do you have the option of putting up a new LF server with the other repository for WebDAV access?

Currently, you can use WebDAV for only one repository per server as WebDAV is configured to operate on a server’s default repository. If you have 4 servers, WebDAV could be configured for 4 repositories, the default repository for each server.

Here is the link for WebDAV configuration within Laserfiche.

Hi Kirrubananthan,

I'm a little unsure what you are asking? Do you mean Workflow or WebDAV?

Webdav is just a protocol.....frown

Cheers! smiley

Hi Chris,

It is about WebDAV!

WebDAV with Laserfiche allows open laserfiche folders and files through Windows explorer.

Currently we are only using, one repository for this purpose to open the files using Windows explorer.

However, we have more then 1 repositories, and wanted to do the same to increase the user experience.

Is it possible?

Thanks Kirrubananthan,

I'm still a little unsure what you are doing....

Are you using LFE shortcuts? or a bespoke program to tunnel into Laserfiche?

Ah Folder tunneling. Now I understand. So the instructions state....

To add the Laserfiche repository as a network place

http://ServerName/lf

where ServerName is the fully-qualified domain name of your Laserfiche server.

Note: If your Laserfiche Server is not running as either local system or a domain administrator, you will need to perform additional configuration to allow users to log in as Windows domain accounts. See Configuring SPN for more information. SPN configuration is not necessary if you are logging in as a Laserfiche trustee.

  1. Open Windows Explorer, either by opening any folder in Windows, or by launching the Start menu and selecting Programs and then Accessories.
  2. Open the Tools menu and select Map Network Drive.
  3. The Map Network Drive dialog will open. In the Drive option, select a drive letter that is not currently in use. (Drives that are in use will be followed by the location that is already mapped for that drive.)
  4. In the Folder option, type the following:
  5. Click Next. You will be prompted to log in to your repository. Provide either a Laserfiche user name and password, or a Windows or LDAP domain account and password that has been granted Trusted access to the Laserfiche repository. Note that you may be prompted to log in more than once; this is normal.
  6. Your network drive will appear in the Windows folder tree under My Computer. You can access it from any application that supports mapped network drives.

At step 5. What happens if you provide credentials at this point for second repository?

Hi Chris,

I appreciate for your effort, but it does not help me in solving my problem!

According to the document, it allows configuration for only one repository.

I need to access other repositories too, with using the same WebDAV method.

No worries Kirrubananthan,

Maybe this will have to be a feature request then. Or I guess you could configure different workstations for different repositories? Dunno. Need LF to chime in here I guess. smiley

Cheers!
