Looks like your search catalog is corrupt. Sometimes a restart of the Laserfiche Full Text Search service will bring it back up.
If that does not work, click the delete button, go to the directory shown in the path and make sure no files are still in the directory. If there are either move them out or delete them. Then, just click create and it will ask you if you want to re-index your repository, you do.
Depending on how many documents are in your repository it can take awhile, but being able to rebuild the full text index is a fully supported function in Laserfiche.
Hi Moana,
This error indicates an issue with the search index files (the bunch of .idx files in the SEARCH folder). Either they are corrupt, a registry key is missing or the LFFTS service isn't running or has an issue.
I would first check the LFFTS service is running, and have a look in the windows event viewer for any information there. If there is nothing obvious then follow these steps to re-index the repository.

Hope this translates ok and good luck!
Something is wrong with the Index. Open the Administration Console, login to the Repository as Admin and go to Index. Double Click on the Index to see what the status says.
Thank you Chad Saar.
Indeed, in the index I have an unknown status. Sorry I'm french so I'm not sure how to translate that but I will make a screenshot attachment to be clear.
Do you have any idea to fix this ?

Just tried this in 2024 and it worked!
Restarting the Full Text service resolved the 9421 issue.

Hello,
We reconfigured how our volumes are configured recently. After reconfiguring the volumes, full-text search does not work. I have tried to delete and rebuild the Index, but am not able to. I have the error shown below. What can I do to fix this issue? Thank You - Zach Merrill
Is there anything more from LFFTS or LFS in the Application Event Log on the Laserfiche Server?
Hello Miruna,
I can see 3 application errors in the windows event viewer while trying to delete or deteach the index. I will list them below. They don't seem to be all that helpful. Please let me know if there are any other details that you need. Thanks!
1. EventID: 503 - Laserfiche Admin Console: Invalid search catalog status.
2. EventID 32937 - Invalid catalog status for the operation for the search catalog ATPR1LFATG.
3. EventID 32949 - Failed to create or modify the configuration. Please see other event log messages for more information.
Hello Zach,
Please try https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1011970. If it still doesn't work, please file a support ticket.
Thank you Cangfei. Where can I find the Search8 .idx files in Laserfiche Server 9? I need to find the .idx files and delete them according to the KB Article.
Thanks!
Zach
SEARCH8 is just SEARCH in Laserfiche 9. The full path should be displayed in the Indexing node in the LF Admin Console.
I should have realized that the first time! Thanks Miruna. I am looking for the HasCatalog DWORD value in the registry under Repositories. I do not see this registry key. Could you please help me find the right registry key to edit?
