Imported PDF files with normal to bold text font changes displayed in HUGE Fonts in Weblinks

asked on August 6, 2014

We have occasional issues with Imported PDF files fonts having a minor change between pages. These converted files (PDF to TIFF) display fine in the Laserfiche 9.1 Client.  If this same file is viewed in Weblinks, the second page fonts show up huge. I have attached the PDF file  and the font has a minor change between page 1 and 2.

The first screen print below shows the slight difference in fronts (second page is a little darker, maybe bolded).

The second screen print below shows the same file in weblinks and the font on the second page is Huge.

The issue is that the pages are different dpi. The first page is 200 dpi while the second page is 400 dpi. Since WebLink uses a continuous scroll for page navigation, that is why the second page appears so much larger since it's in respect to the first page.

One option is to use Snapshot as the resulting document will have each page the same dpi.

Note that I've also removed the PDF from your post just in case it contains sensitive information.

Customer is using Snapshot and all is going well.  Thank You.  If your boss is reading this, here are my thoughts to him/her, "Give Alexander a raise".  Have a Good Day.

Is there some way to specify the same DPI when I import the PDF file into Laserfiche?

Or, do we have to catch that when the PDF is made.  I traced back thru the process and they use Fujitsu Scansnap software to scan the document.  Looks like the second page on the original print just a tad more darker and clearer.

When Laserfiche generates pages from PDFs, it just grabs the image data directly from the PDF.

For now, using Snapshot would be the best workaround.

In a future release, we'll look into enhancing the page generation options to account for the situations when the source image data in the PDFs themselves are the problem and further image processing is needed.

We'll also look into having the WebLink document viewer handle different pages with different dpis better.
