Question

Question

Choose location for checked out documents?

asked on August 6, 2014

We would like to use the Check-Out tool for when a document needs to be revised but others still need to see the most recent "approved" version.  Problem is, our individual computers are not backed up and it might take months of revisions before the new version is approved by Council and the document is ready to be viewed by others.

Can we choose the location of where the checked out documents get saved?  If we could choose a specific folder on our server where all the checked out documents would be stored automatically, every time something is checked out, then we could feel confident that we wouldn't lose documents if someone's computer crashes.

well, I believe this is a setting in your user accounts attributes. Just try checking out a document on an account, then after logging out of the client, check that account's attributes and look for that file path. Should find it quickly.

Found it and it is already set to save into a folder on my H: drive, and everyone's H: drives are being backed up so, learned something new, plus learned that this problem is already taken care of.  Thanks!

Hi Connie,

Kenneth is 100% correct here. The attribute is [SETTINGS]Checkout Path.

Hope this helps!
