Question

browser columns re-sort after a document is updated

asked on August 4, 2014

when I have the browser window open (and have it sorted as needed) and open a document that I need to change the metadata (or make any sort of change or update), the browser columns go back to a default view - how do I set it up so that the sorting option I choose does not revert?

This has been going on since we upgraded to version 9 - is there a setting I am missing??

(**my settings are set to "Remembered for each individual folder.")

This issue has been reported and already being fix in the upcoming release for Laserfiche 9.2.

Please try the following from the Laserfiche Client go to Menu Tools>Options> browser> general columns options and choose the other option "Applied to all folders". It should work.

I don't want the settings on "applied to all folders."

I need to have specific column views for certain folders.  Hopefully this does get resolved in the new update.  This was not an issue when we installed 9.0 - once we installed 9.1, that is when this became a problem.

"This issue has been reported and already being fix in the upcoming release for Laserfiche 9.2."

Was this issue actually fixed in 9.2?
I don't see it listed in List of Changes for Laserfiche 9.2. or 9.2.1?

One issue was fixed: incorrect re-sorting when a column other than the name column is in the first position (SCR 113966. This didn't make it into the release notes but it should be fixed in 9.2.

Do you have the a column other than "Name" as the first column? If so, the client gets confused when reloading the folder contents because it expects the name column to always be first.

yes, there are multiple columns - depending on what I'm looking at or for, depends on the column view I require.

We have a ticketing system - where each user creates a trouble ticket, they are all stored in a folder, I have to update each ticket accordingly.  I need to sort the folder with all the tickets based on a certain field (column)... as I go through each ticket, every time I open a ticket (document) the folder with all the tickets get re-sorted and I need to click the column heading each time.

I am not the only user in our company who is having this problem - my data entry in LF is limited but for the other users the constant re-sorting is a hassle!  for some users, the re-sorting occurs when they go in and out of folders.  and on top of this issue, a lot of users have issues with the browser refreshing (taking up to 2 minutes to reload).  bad combination.

You may want to try exporting the attributes from your user account as a backup of the column displays. Then you can try disabling the custom folder views and restarting your machine/LF Client to make sure that things have taken effect. Then after checking inside of LF Client that this is the case, change the setting, restore your folder views from the exported attributes, and restart your machine and/or LF Client to see if this has reverted to the settings you now should be having, but are currently stating are not working.
