Question

Field rules not applying to stored form in LF Repository

asked on August 4, 2014

Hi,

I have a client using field rules in a number of forms.  They recently made a new form with a number of field rules to hide/show information dependent on a location selected, and whether they opt in or out of medical insurance enrollment.  The field rules are all functioning properly when filling out the form, and I've imported the form into my VM and it stores just fine.

However, on their system, when it is stored to Laserfiche none of the field rules are applied and every field on the form is displayed in the TIFF.  The only difference between my VM environment and their live server is the lookup rules, but none of these field rules are tied to fields being populated through the lookup rules.

I've reviewed the Forms Configuration menu and everything appears to be in order.  Also, the only CSS/JS being applied is to hide one field completely ".id123{display:none;}".  They've told me that this is the only form that does this and all other forms with field rules are storing properly.

Does anyone have an idea as to what may be causing this issue?

Thanks,

Eric Anderson

Thanks, while I'd like to troubleshoot the issue, the client didn't want to wait.  They've rebuilt the exact same Form from a new blank form and it works properly now.

Thanks for all the help, though!

So you are saying that this is a copy of a previous form and then slightly modified? Have they tried using that exported business process to import it again under a new name and see if that one works?

They didn't say that they had tried that yet.  I'll suggest it and see if it works, though.  Thanks!

I tried exporting the XML, deleting it from the Manager, and re-importing and it still is not functioning properly.

Is JavaScript enabled in the browser on the Forms server machine?

Hey Eric,

That is very odd!  I've never seen this issue before, so I don't have any surefire ways to fix it off the top of my head.

To troubleshoot this issue, I would create a copy of the business process (just to make sure we have a copy if we mess anything up), then try removing one piece at a time to see what allows Forms to function properly.  Perhaps try removing the database lookup first, then submit the form to check if the "hidden" fields are still showing.  If that doesn't fix it, try removing the CSS/JS and repeat the submission.  If none of these options work and it seems that no matter what's changed, it's still not functioning correctly, I'd recommend taking this to the support team who can dive a little deeper to see what the issue might be.

Hi there,

When you view submission, does the submitted form show up correctly?

I am experiencing the same issue except that the fields are contracted once saved to the repository.  The field rules work properly when completing the form. It is odd as the first of each repetitive question with corresponding field rules displays in the repository, but not the subsequent fields.
