Question

Weblink Document Linking

asked on July 30, 2014

An install of mine uses WebLink and the users are wondering why there is no Linking Data within this service. There is a metadata column on the left hand side of the page but nothing shows up there. Is there a way to show which document other documents are linked to in Weblink, similar to WebAccess and the Client itself.

Are you referring to document relationships? They should appear in the metadata column in the WebLink document viewer. See the screenshot below. If you are referring to something else, please clarify.

If you go to My WebLink > View Document Options and choose to open electronic documents using the "Standard document display" then it will open the document using the WebLink document viewer. You'll be able to see the metadata that way. If the electronic document has associated images or text, you'll be able to see that as well.

If you are referring to Link Groups, please see this question about Link Groups in WebLink.

Link Groups, a.k.a. old style Versions, should still appear in WebLink. They will appear in the metadata section as well, but will be labeled as "Versions"

This does seem to satisfy the problem, one quick question though before I mark this as resolved. I notice this is using a laserfiche document. If they are using Word documents clicking the link opens to document in word, is there a way to show the metadata shown in the screenshot above for documents that link to external programs, such as word, excel , ect?
