Question

Quick Fields - is there anyway to keep metadata already assigned when a document is unidentified?

asked on July 29, 2014

Some data is already there when the QF session is ran. I want this data to be preserved when it stores.

A support case was opened for this matter.

Using the above example, we were able to confirm that the first unidentified document does in fact retain the original document name of the scanned batch instead of using the specified document name configured in the "Unidentified Documents" section of the Quick Fields options, if in that section, you used "Untitled" as the name and the first page of the batch isn't identified. This would be a bug.

We were not able to recreate the behavior where the first unidentified document also retained the original field data of the scanned batch when using "No template assigned".

Regarding the customer's objective of wanting all unidentified documents from a particular batch to use the original document name and also retain the original field data, that is something that will need to be achieved through an alternative process.

Ah HA!   Solved this one myself!

I took off applying a template in the unidentified storage dialog and voila, my original fields are there.

Leaving this up here in case someone else ever encounters this issue. I'm not sure if it's a design feature or not.

Having the same issue here... was there ever any resolution? I simply want to add one token field in the Unidentified name. Would also like to store one field in the metatdata; but it just isn't doing it.

Thanks,

Julie

Ugh. I spoke too soon.

There IS an issue. Say I have a 20 page document and there are 2 identified documents inside it like so:

Pages 1-2 -- unidentified

Pages 2-5 - Identified document that is always 3 pages

Pages 6-9 - unidentified *****

Pages 10-17 Identified 7 page document

Pages 18-20 unidentified ****

So the two unidentified documents with the **** next to them do not keep the metadata and don't even keep the original name if you leave the name blank. However the first unidentified document keeps the starting name and keeps the metadata.

Is this a bug?
