Erm.....Upgrade! laugh wink ha ha!

No seriously. I can't remember what options are available in LF6 (it was a lifetime ago!). However yes the best option would be to at least upgrade to LF7.

If you can export to briefcase in LF6 that would probably also work (I think you can from memory). This is the easiest option depending on how much data you need to migrate.

Assuming that you want to get the documents into a newer version, either exporting a briefcase or exporting/detaching the volume would work. Like, Chris said, it would depend on how much data you're talking about, briefcases had size limitations in version 6.

Hi Chris and Miruna,

Thanks for the reply!

Well, the data needs to be exported for external use, thus needs to be in the combination of the actual document (.tif or .pdf) along with extracted metadata file (an xml file for instance).

Just wondering, does LF 6.0 has workflow functionality to support that requirement?

Thanks :)

No, Workflow 6 has no exporting capabilities. You can write an application using the SDK that exports documents and generates the XML from metadata, but there is nothing built-in.

Hi Hernani,

Exporting out of Laserfiche isn't supported in WF 9.1.1. so i'm pretty sure it won't work in LF6.

Having said that I don't think exporting metadata out of Laserfiche is at all possible in the way you are looking to do this. Not that I have seen anyway.....frown

If you are looking at taking the images/documents off site have you considered using Laserfiche Plus for this?

Cheers!

Actually, there is a way to export the metadata list, using the export list contents option in the desktop Client or Web Access. It will generate a csv containing whatever columns you have at the time from either a particular directory or search results. But that was introduced in the v7 Client, so it's not useful for this particular case.

Thanks Justin,

Yes, I have used that function before and would have been be useful, if its not for v6.
