Desktop MFPs with TWAIN Drivers

posted on July 17, 2014 Show version history

Does anyone have a make or model desktop MFP that has worked well with Laserfiche scanning through TWAIN?

Hi Kevin,

Yeah that's pretty much all you can do at this point. Buy a product and do some testing. The 'go with the flow' approach. wink

Chris,

Thanks for the response.  I had the same conversation with my client, and he agrees with me, but his department has given us specific marching orders that they only want MFD desktop devices.

Supposedly, the HP Laserjet Pro 400 has an exposed TWAIN driver, so I suggested they buy 1 test unit.  I'll post an update after we test it out.

Hi Kevin,

Small/desktop MFP's are generally aimed at home users and thus most are not supported by Laserfiche and are not even recognized in Laserfiche Scanning (believe me I've tried).

My recommendation would of course be to purchase a small scanner (Panasonic KV-S1045C is the smallest we supply that is supported by Laserfiche). Failing that you run the risk of purchasing the MFP and it not connecting to Laserfiche at all.

We also supply larger MFP's (Canon & Ricoh) and these have a network twain driver which does work with Laserfiche.

In short it seems that products aimed at Office rather than Home/Small Office seem to be supported and work correctly, whereas the smaller devices just don't show up in the scan window at all.

Hope this helps Kevin! smiley
