Question

Named Devices and RIO

asked on July 17, 2014

We have a client on RIO where they have servers completely separate from the License Manager server, different locations, and domains.  We've opened port traffic from the different LF servers to the LM to allow them to 'Still Alive Check' once a week, and that is working good.  We now want to add a Named device for one of these LF servers, so we've input the Computer name and Mac Address in the Named Users and devices in the LM.  Though it's not allowing it to work as expected on the LF server side.  Is there some other port the LF server and LM use to authenticate named devices or should this just work?  Could it just take a bit for the named device license to be 'enabled'?  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey Brandon,

What ports have you opened up between the Laserfiche Server and License Manager?  If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Laserfiche Rio 9.1 Deployment Guide.  An excerpt from this guide on page 12 states:

"The License Manager Server will communicate using the port specified in the license server’s properties. By default, this is port 5048, with SSL access available over port 5049. If you have enabled notifications, the License Manager Server will also communicate with the Laserfiche Server on a regular basis, to update licensing information. The default notification port is 5055."

Remember that you may also need to create a Windows Firewall Exception for the ports used by the License Manager.
